Cast And Charaters on The Vice

PC Cheryl Hutchins & Sgt. Joe Robinson

Inspector Pat Chappel

Ken Stott a.k.a. Inspector Pat Chappel Head of The Vice Squad, Inspector Pat Chappel, has a rather unique approach to policing the area of Soho. The Scot tends to view prostitutes as victims rather than criminals. He prefers to prosecute the pimps and punters, as they are the ones that are dangerous and force the girls to work. This view is not often shared by his senior officers, and though he frequently gets results, they often think he's either too soft or has a hidden agenda with the working girls.
Still, he knows that not everything is black and white, and is seen as more of a friend and father-figure by most women who get to know him, rather than a policeman.

Ken Stott

Ken Stott was born in Edinburgh in 1955. He's half-Italian and half-Scottish and studied drama at London's Mountview Drama School. Apart from The Vice, his TV credits include Dockers, The Debt Collector and The Boxer to name but a few.

PC Cheryl Hutchins

Caroline Catz a.k.a. PC Cheryl Hutchins Attractive and confident, PC Cheryl Hutchins is rather loyal to Chappel and respects his way of thinking, though this won't stop her from setting him straight when he oversteps the mark. Usually the 30-something-year old policewoman will avoid confrontations, but when necessary will say exactly what she thinks. Though sometimes careless, she's definitely not naive or soft, as her time in Vice has taught her what really goes on out in the streets of London.

Sgt. Joe Robinson

David Harewood, aka Sgt. Joe RobinsonSgt. Joe Robinson used to be the only family man in The Vice Squad, until his job finally broke up his marriage and his wife Shirley walked out taking with her his two children. Joe is Chappel's right-hand man and has useful contacts and friends almost everywhere. The sergeant prefers to play things by the book and will usually put the safety of others before getting a result. However, in Forces Of Nature his priorities do seem to waver when he gets the chance to become Acting-Inspector.

David Harewood

David Harewood has been in Always And Everyone, Cold Feet and Agony Again.

PC Dougie Raymond

Marc Warren a.k.a. PC Dougie RaymondDougie Raymond was new to The Vice Squad in Series One. Most of his colleagues were unsure whether he was really cut out for Vice, as he tended to want to enjoy life to the full a little too much, and was often tempted by the world around him. He fancied himself as a bit of a ducker-and-diver, but was soon caught out. Once dismissed from The Met, after he leaked information about an undercover operation, he got himself involved with some gangsters, but tried to ease his conscience by helping the police, including Chappel, to catch his employers. He finally chose to protect his girlfriend rather than his employers and he was fatally caught in the cross-fire.

Marc Warren

Born in 1967, Marc Warren has appeared in Oliver Twist, Band of Brother, Dad Savage and Boston Kickout.

PC Kirsty Morgan

Rosie Marcel a.k.a. PC Kirsty Morgan PC Kirsty Morgan had only just joined The Vice Squad at the beginning of Series Three as PC Dougie Raymond's replacement. She's confident, has a good sense of humour and will usually do as she's told by her senior officers. Her friendly nature is useful when gaining the prostitutes' trust, but her inexperience often shows through. She's not really considered as one of the team when it comes to dealing with complicated and personal cases, but that's more to do with the fact that she hasn't been there long enough to be trusted with their secrets.

Rosie Marcel

Rosie Marcel was born in 1977. She has a black belt in karate and lives with her father and sister in Richmond, Surrey. She appeared in The Secret Life Of Michael Fry as a prostitute and is dating Scott Bunce, who works behind the scenes of The Vice.
